Introduction Blog #1

Patrick Mills
Blog Post #1

Hello my name is Patrick Mills and I was born in Brooklyn New York.  I transferred here this spring after getting my associates degree in the fall from my previous college.  I am a currently a Sports Industry major here at OSU.  A lot of my time outside of class is spent playing sports, drawing, cooking, and working out.  I love pushing myself and surrounding myself with people that will help me grow as person.  My future career plans consist of two big dreams I have had for a while which are pretty opposite of each other.  One would might seem a little weird to people but I would hopefully compete in some bodybuilding competitions as a natural competitor.  Although bodybuilding is hard thing to do naturally now I hope to be able to achieve that goal and also work in the business of bodybuilding whether it be training or designing graphics for workout gear.  The other dream I have is to work as an animator/ imagineer for Pixar and The Walt Disney World Company.  Being able to be a part of the story telling and artistry that is related to movies we all know would be incredible.  To think that I could maybe one day create and help develop a movie that would put smiles on family’s faces is to me a great feeling.

When asked the question of what leadership experience made me who I am today a couple definitely come to mind.  One in particular would be in the start of my freshmen year of high school with my friend Logan.  We decided to join the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Departments Youth training program that was offered in our town.  It would serve to be one of biggest leadership experiences of our lives.  We learned and trained just like recruits for the Sheriff’s Department.  From being yelled at by drill instructors, marching in sync, physical training, and many other aspects we were taught to be leaders of ourselves and others throughout this program.  After we graduated our first year we came back for three more and in this time became leaders of our marching and PT groups.  Overall the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department training program has helped me find and become the person I am today.
